i am backing up lord of rings extended edition.Well im putting the movie onto one disc. I created menus and got the vobs into a folder. Menu works fine however the files are approx 9 gig as u would expect. When i go to shrink using DVDshrink it throws up the following error when analysing at 9% "DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue"....."cannot decrypt VOBs"
Im stumped...plays fine on HD .Any ideas guys ???
Cheers

First I think it's a folly to put a 3 hour 40 minute film on one disc

second I'd use DVD2One if I were you (well I wouildn't I'd use CCE but that's a bit more complicated) having ripped the files to the HD with DVD Decrypter.

Third do you know how to joing two sets of VOBs into one?

LOTR TT has 11 program chains on it, you only want one of them (title one) other wise Shrink will produce 6 copies of the movie all bvery compressed if you are reauthoring

Thanks for the reply however i dont think its folly putting it onto one disc.It saves me getting off my ass to change disks. The quality is perfect.
I found the problem with the VOBs. I didnt recreate the ifo for the second disk properly. Now its on one disk .....HOWEVER when i burn to a disk the menu system gets screwed up. Works perfect on hardrive but when i burn the files it locks up when i try and change to a different menu and wont play disc 2 when i select it.........any ideas on this ?????
Happy Christmas :)

Get rid of the menu.
What do you want the menu for anyway?
I assume that you have stripped the disc of everything except the film? (in which case the menu is useless)If not then you have a 3 hour 40 minute film, a DTS sound track and a 5:1 soundtrack and two extra commentary soundtracks on one disc, It must look awful even if you can't see it.

No No u got me wrong. I stripped just film on each disc and used TMPGEnc DVD author to create menu and reauthor the film. It ends up about 9 gig and i then used dvdshrink to fit it onto one disc.Quality is perfect.Im only using AC3 as soundtrack.
As i said the menu works perfect on the harddrive but when i burn the files it screws up.Disc wont even run on WinDvd

copy the flim l.o.t.r. 2 in to DVD Decrypter as a .iso file and then copy the file in to clone dvd this will put all of the disk on to a 4.7Gb disk this does work as i have done it to l.o.t.r 1 and 2 for backups.
