Hi everyone, im not sure if this is the right place for this, but what the hell.

My motherboard got fried on my last computer (it was a dell xps 200) and im getting a new hp computer. I want to copy some stuff that was on my dell hard drive to my new computer. Is it possible? My freind was telling me about something called a thumb drive. How would the thumb drive work? Would i connect the thumb drive to the hard drive and it will copy everything then i go to my hp and connect the thumb drive to it and i will have all of my files back? is there an easier way to copy files from my last hard drive.

someone, please help me...

open up the old computer and pull out the old hard drive then open the new computer and connect the old hard drive to an empty slot. if the hard drive is sata then you can just plug it in. if it is an ide drive you may need to move the jumper on the front of the drive to slave. after that just boot into windows and you should be able to go to my computer and see the hard drive you added. now just copy the files you need.
