I can rip other DVDs fine, so this isnt about hardware or anything. I usually use DVD Decrypter but when trying to back up a particular DVD today none of my programs seem to be able to do it. There is a serious copy protection encoded in it... I think it has to do with "CCS" or maybe "CSS" I can't remember but its a tool the movie industry uses embedded in the files that prevent copying.

I can't even right click on the DVD "explore" and copy onto the computer.. I get a few files and then an error.

Anybody run into this? I think I need something like a CCS decoder. Thanks

We can't be of much help unless you tell us the name of the movie and all the steps you tried.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

movie is King of Kong a Fistful of Quarters.

I ran AnyDVD and it apparently fixed and removed the nasties/CSS protection allowing me to use DVD Decrypter to rip appropriately. I have had a few warning pop ups from DVD Decrypter though; saying something like the IFO files are corrupt.

hmmm.. :/

I guess what I've learned is some DVDs need more efficient ripping programs to bypass the additional security measures such as CSS. Does anyone know of any free programs to do this with?
