I have an ASUS M2N32 SLI Deluxe mobo Running WInXP Pro SP2 w/all current updates. The mobo has two ethernet ports and one wifi port. The network controller is nVidia 590 nForce. My question is can I utilize BOTH prots for my internet connection. I would like to specify a single port for my torrent d/l's and the other port for my web browsing. I do not use the wifi at all. If so, how? I am using a D-link Di-634 wireless router and have high speed DSL.

It's not possible to send your internet connection upload through two adapters at once I don't think, but why would you want to do so? If you want to be able to torrent without impacting the performance of your browsing, using multiple cables won't help, you need to set up Quality of service rules for your router.

What you want to do is pointless.

You already have seperate connections across the single cable 'its called socket numbers'
These are assigned to the different applications and the data is routed to each application via them.
Even if you could do it, which would involve a lot a headbanging to get working, you would end up with no extra security, no extra throughput and no anything else I can think of either, all you would end up with was less CPU resource on the CPU and router as it was having to do extra functions.

You'd be better off using the second port to route to local area network traffic inside the house and then keep the other port for internet access, that way providing everything is firewalled correctly, you have 2 networks that are totally seperate.

Thank You for your input. I was thinking that "what is the point of having more than one nic if not to manage your internet".

Not a daft question, as most people only use the ethernet ports to connect to an isp.
