I have an old pc that has blown capacitors on the mobo, I considered replacing them but would rather just buy a new mobo. The motherboard I have is a Epox- EP-8K5A2+ Socket A Motherboard. Ive tried a few sites, seems nobody carries this anymore as it is like 6 years old. If I cant infact find a duplicate what are some other mobos that can replace this one?

(Hardware for this mobo includes - Gforce 4 Ti4200 128mb, Creative sound blaster audigy SB0092W, 1gig ram pc3200, amd 1800)

thanks

ya I thougth about that, but like you said Ill be buying someone else's junk. Im in Canada.
Since I posted Ive removed the bad capacitors from the motherboard and monday when the electronics store opens Im going to see if they have replacement ones (6 in total). But in the meantime incase my plan doesnt work I still want to try and find a duplicate mobo to buy.

Im in NS. I used a 45w soldering iron and a screw driver, I basically just flipped the mobo over, heated the solder points and pushed the wire with the screw driver, when the solder liquified the wire pushed through, came out pretty easy actually.

didn't need a screwdriver as you can heat 1 leg at a time & tilt the cap back & forth when heating the legs til cap is off. those caps are polarized so hopefully remember the negative orientation for the new caps or you'll blow them. i've done board work including motherboards so i know what i'm talking about. what are the values marked on the caps like 1500uf, 2200uf or what? how are you going to reconnect the new caps? do you have a solder sucker or solder wick to clean out the holes & do you have electrical solder?

ya I have the desoldering wicks, and electrical solder. the board is marked with the orientation for the caps so I should be alright, I have never fixed a mobo before but put chips in many different consoles so I have a little experience. then caps are all the same and have these values on them 1000uf, 6.3v
