Hiya sn_aps,

lemme guess, not only are they GREEN, but the font is wrong and difficult to decipher, am I right?

how are you ripping the film (what software, which files ripped)??

With a bit more info I can probably help you.

The newly made IFO doesn't know what colour the subtitles are supposed to be.
IFOedit has the facility to copy the colour of the subtitles from another IFO (the original)to the made one. I suggest you use this feature.

Hi malum,

you are right, the subtitle copy/paste function in IFOEdit is obvious to all the DVD HaX0rS out there (those with experience anyway).

If you read sn_aps original post, one can infer that he is not aware of the functionality of IFOEdit and the fact that the subtitles are already available to him in the original rip - hence my request for more info.

With sn_aps giving more info, we would be able to point out the step at which he could deviate from his current method, and guide him down the correct path to achieve the required result.

Well, i don´t rip the original DVD myself. I have AVI (most are DivX), that i convert back to m2v and m2a with TMPGEnc. Then i author a new DVD based on these files and the sup file created by str2sup.

So what you are saying is that i could load another DVD-9 start IFOEdit, copy the Sub colours and then paste them into the other IFO?
Can you tell me a step-by-step procedure ?

By the way, in the menu, the subtitles get the label "english" but they are another language. And by default they are not seleted when palying. In whitch sections of the IFO sould i change what to change this ?
Thanks anyway for your time...

yes

I can't give you a step by step as I've only done it once. It is easy though, just open IFOEdit and have a play or search the forum

Hiya guys,

to copy & paste subtitle colours from one IFO to another, do the following:

ASSUMPTION: the main film files are VTS_01_x.xxx, adjust to fit your circumstances

1 - create a directory to hold the master copies of the IFOs
2 - rip from a DVD-9 the VTS_01_0.IFO from the MAIN FILM to the master folder
3 - rename it to MASTER_01.IFO (note CAPS)
4 - close the ripper etc.
5 - run IFOEdit
6 - "Open", browse to the master directory , select MASTER_01.IFO
7 - "Open", browse to the directory of the film you want to change subtitle colours in, select VTS_01_0.IFO
8 - In the top half select the MASTER_01.IFO, expand it
9 - select VTS_PGCITI, expand it
10 - select VTS_PGC_1, the bottom window now shows the program chain
11 - In the bottom window about 15 lines down you will find colour information, highlight anywhere in there
12 - "Subtitle Color", "Copy colors from this PGC"
13 - repeat steps 8 to 11 for VTS_01_0.IFO
14 - "Subtitle Color", "Paste colors into this PGC"
15 - "Save" and confirm
16 - close IFOEdit

Test, you will have coloured subtitles now (don't know what colour they will be, if you ripped the master from the original to the film they will be white)

Rule-of-Thumb: ALWAYS copy the colour info from the master into your copy AFTER EVERYTHING ELSE is done (i.e. just before final test & burn), further processing can SOMETIMES screw up the colour info, don't know why, just experience...

Hiya charl,

You used the wrong IFO to read from...

Use the correct one and the subtitles will be the correct colour (normally white).

Hiya,

Use the VTS_0x_0.IFO from the original film...

Just put the original in your DVD drive and use it from there - IFO files have no protection on them, so no decrypter needed.

You DO have the Original, don't you? ;)

Byeeeee...

Hi,

If you download my SupRemap tool from:

www.shipleys.eclipse.co.uk

You can use this to set the colours you require in the IFO file using "real" colours!
