I have a problem with my hard disk from yesterday, I had made 5 partitions on my 80GB hard disk consisting of 2 drives of 10gb and 3 drives of 20gb. my problem is one drive of my hard disk is not opening it is saying your volume has been corrupted or unreadable.
This happened when I tried to add a dvd drive to my computer by removing my cd drive. Before that everything was fine. I have stored my backup files in that drive (ex.softwares,games,documents.etc.) Pls Help me to get my files back.
Thankyou.

I can't see how adding a DVD drive would do that, but I guess anything is possible.
Did you pull out the DVD drive and check to see if it made a difference? It shouldn't, but try it.

By chance are you using one IDE port for both the hard drive and the DVD-ROM drive? If so, make sure that you have the jumpers set correctly.
Most likely, it's just a coincidence. You can try performing a disk check on the affected partition.

Thanks for the reply....
My problem is when i try to open the drive it says it is not accessible The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Your suggestions i tried but in vain. I tried to check disk in properties = tools in that error checking but it dint do nothing, when i tried to defragment again is said not accessible blah blah blah....
Pls help me i want my files in that drive.... I have 2 hard disk one 20gb and one 80gb. In 20gb hard disk i have installed my OS and the 80gb hard disk for backups and games etc.. I have 2 IDE cables in one I have 20gb hard disk and the other i had both 80gb hard disk and cd-writer drive. Till day before yesterday everything was fine.... I wanted to copy my files to DVD roms so I took my friends sony dvd drive and installed in place of my cd writer. At first the comp didnt able to detect my hard disk of 80gb but later it did. I had problems in writing so i copied some of my video files to 20gb hard disk then i removed my 80gb hard disk and tried to write the dvd after doing that when i again tried to install my 80gb hard disk my softwares drive was not able to access... I hope this information is enough...
If anything else needed please let me know...
Thankyou.

See if your friend will let you put your 80GB hard drive, in his computer, as a slave drive to see if his computer recognizes the hard drive.

Dude, it's gone. You can try a recovery program, to get back the files on it. Good luck.
