hi there, im using nero vision 3 and trying to burn several video files onto a dvd, ive done this for years with nero 3 and no problems but all of a sudden the last couple of months i have 100's of coasters to say the least...
ive followed many people advice ie;
cleaning the burners lens
unistalling my codecs like k-lite pack and ffdshow
i have tried several media, like verbatrim, tdk and now sony ... as i alwasy use sony...
i get the same problem with my new nero vision 5 aswell...
any hepw ould be great

Are you using the appropriate (IE matched to the version you are trying to remove) Nero Clean Tool, before reinstalling Nero?

i used nero clean tool before i installed it again ..
i have both nero vision 3 and 5 and am getting same problems..
i was told it could be the burner has burned out, but i installed an external dvd drive this morning and still get the same things happening so i dont think its the burner itself..
im using sony dvd-rs 8 speed
have tried lots of dif things , removing codec, cleaning the dvd drive( have to add i can still burn cds usuing nero vision 3 just not dvds...
tried different avi s incase they were corrupt.. no luck
dont know if my setting are wrong in nero or ide controller as i dotn know much about that side of things..
any help??

Can you burn data to a DVD using another burning program?
ImgBurn can burn DVD's.
Mode > E-z Mode Picker > Write files/Folders to Disc.

ok just installed img burn and burnt a avi to disc it staed it was finihsed succefully plays back on pc but not on dvd player...?? no idea why??
have finished with nero clean tool and deleted nero etc totally of my pc,
any ideas on what version of nero vision i should install now??

If your satisfied that the burner is working (it didn't produce a coaster) and you used the clean tool to erase all previous installations, install the version of Nero that you were using prior to the problem surfacing.
If you are converting an AVI to DVD format, have 'Nero Vision' output to the hard drive.
Check the output with the media player to ensure that the conversion is good.
Use IMGBurn to burn the 'VIDEO_TS' folder to the disk as before.
If that works, use 'Nero Express' to burn the same folder.
In all cases, burn at 4x until the problem is resolved.

so i have finaly finished with the nero clean tool, reinstalled my dvd drive, after cleaning it and then reinstalled one version of nero vision and took of sold other software i had installed at around the same time as the problems started and now i have 5 working dvds so i THINK its fixed... thankyou very much for all the help .. will know these steps in the future should anything else do wrong..thankyou again
