DVD Decrypter will not detect my A06 DVD burner after I install my 200GB WD SATA hardrive. Once I install the driver for the hard drive it either conflicts with ASPI or DVD Decrypter. Any one know what to do

Just a guess of mine: maybe your software tries to use an ASPI driver that is no longer there because it is overwtriten when installing the SATA driver.
Try this:
1st make sure all your hardware works (with the Serial ATA drivers loaded°
2nd re-install your software: perhaps when it detects that an ASPI driver is already loaded, it will use this driver instead of his own.

Hiya ricecrisp,

that's one helluva board you got there.

Can we have some drive connection details:
what is on IDE 1?
what is on IDE 2?
etc for IDE 3 and 4
etc for SATA 1 & 2..

What IDE/RAID/SATA drivers loaded?

I suspect the IDE 1/2 driver is the standard NForce driver, IDE 3/4 will be the GigaRaid driver and SATA 1/2 will be the SiliconImage driver....

An interesting point for you to consider, the SiliconImage SATA chipset is fussy about correct clock control - and I noticed you are OVERCLOCKING - have you locked the I/O bus clocks to standard frequencies?
If not, you may be introducing a timing/race condition there:

Have Fun...

Life is just more of the same:

Thanks for the help.
I gonna reinstall the ASPI again. Gonna make sure it doesn't get replaced or overwritten. I checked the ASPIcheck and it's all there and even DVD Decrypter see's the ASPI. THe burner exist but can't use it

ide 1 is the pioneer a06
ide 3 is the maxtor Pata

primary channel for the SATA drive

I locked my bus speed to 33
The AGP is at 67 instead of 66 and I'll change it. I heard all SATA OEM software seems to be fussy about the overclock so i'm gonna lower it as well.

Ow YEAH, THank GOD for Backup's and SYSTEM Restore

I'm having the same type of problem. When I look under my computer in XP it list any cd drive as a hard drive. I've tried everything when I reconnect a cd drive of any type, windows will detect and I see it pop up under removable drives then after a minute xp moves it to hard drive device. I can read cd and dvd's and not write. Everything is in the right place in cmos and xp device manager. Also when I insert a cd I get a message saying that the drive is full because it thinks its a hard drive. I believe the problem is being caused from using sata as my boot drive. Every configuration I have tried did nothing with using different pata positions I'm thinking I'm going to have to reinstall an make my boot drive on a pata.

system is:
msi 875p
sata WD 80GB
pata Maxtor 120

Played with it forever and reinstalled/installed and finally worked. Don't know what changed but had the floppy and set up in win xp install. Reinstall the ASPI and then the program system resotre is all i have to say. All the drive has to do is recognize the drive.

if you have another comp put it in to see if it can burn. Flashes that are wrong can kill a burner

I re-installed XP and that solved my problem. I still don't know why XP had a problem in the first place.

I'm pretty sure it's a dirver or so that Xp loads. Did you do through the routine to load 3rd party scsi drivers. That seems to be the main problem only it doesn't always work on the first time.

Yes I used the scsi durring xp install the first time that was the only way to get xp to install. This second Install that fixed everything I followed the same steps as the first time, except that I might had my boot up drive configuration in cmos a little differnt I don't remember. I think the problem occured because sata is still a little new and xp is always a little buggy.
