My buddy has no ISP,due to a DirectWay Upgrade CDRom/Modem? I told him I'd ask The "TECHIES"!Anybody familiar with a new upgrade/install of modems for this? They siad if they send a Tech:$125 per:?Any Who Help appreciated!
I'm a Direcway user,but haven't upgraded the modem for it.The modem I have is a DW6000 probably outdated by now.Have you tried resetting the modem for it,there is a button on the back small black button that you can hit to reset the modem.I will say this though your friend should switch to sprint mobile broadband instead.The FAP from direcway literally sucks,not sure if your friend gets FAP problems as well.They limit how much you download or from my experience,which makes it useless at times.If your friend just got Direcway tell him to get his money back as soon as possible,and switch to sprint.Sprint offers unlimited bandwidth unlike Direcway,and with Sprint you can use it while traveling as well.I plan on switching to Sprint real soon,and getting rid of Direcway you can read about it here http://www.mobilebroadbandnetwork.com/index.cfm .I know this is probably not the answer your looking for,but for how much Direcway costs your friend can get better service and a better internet connection.Direcway was the only option I had at the time,and now that Sprint mobile broadband is out I don't think Direcway can compete.If your friend has a contract with Direcway I would tell him to have the Direcway people come back out and fix the problem.The service should be free since they didn't get the job done.I've had so many problems with Direcway I wish it never existed.I give Direcway a 1 out 10 for their service,and the false advertisements they use which is unlimited bandwidth pisses me off.
