All I wanted to do was replace an old P4 2.0 with a slightly faster one, now its actually 200 Mhz slower than before . . . WTF?? Am willing to replace faulty parts as fast as the college chucks them away. I would really like to know if I can simply tweak something and get at least 2200 Mhz out of the poor thing. Computer is definitely older. Thanks in advance.

I dunno, that's why i came here, i haven't been able to get into setup after reboot and can't fix/destroy anything there either. all info above from sandra.
so i looked up my motherboard and what-not and found that i need a bios upgrade to allow for the cpu upgrade as the current didn't support over pentium 4@2.0GHz. I found the upgrade (checked it against my current and verified), burned a disc and was at the point where it's supposed to start the upgrade. ERROR! not enough memory. . . WTF!!!!!! I suppose i just can't win.
