Hello,

I've really tried to look through all the other posts, but I can't find any solutions to my various DVD burning problems. Please help me if you know any answers. Thanks.

I've had a lot of trouble getting burned DVDs to play on my home DVD player (even though they work fine on my laptop), and currently I have a DVD movie disk image which gave me a lot of trouble just burning to disk (although I finally burned it).

I have an HP DV6253cl laptop, Windows Vista home premium and Nero 8. My DVD burner is the factory installed one - it says TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D ATA Device; the HP website says I have 'Super Multi 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support'. My home DVD player is a DVD/VCR combo from Sony - model SLV-D281P (it's pretty new).

I've burned many DVD movies which I had downloaded, etc. Usually they don't play on my home DVD player (a few worked), and they always play fine on my HP laptop. I usually use Nero Vision to burn them if my files are either .mpeg or .avi, and I use Nero Burning Rom if my files are .vob. In that case, I just copy all the files under Video-TS folder into the corresponding folder in my Nero DVD-Movie compilation. It usually burns fine with no errors, but then my Sony DVD player says 'err' when I put it in. I've been using HP DVD-+r blank disks.

Currently, I have a movie which is an .img disk image file that I downloaded. When I try to burn the image with Nero Burning Rom, I get an 'invalid block address' error during the burn. I tried Nero Recode, but I got a runtime error and it stopped the program. I burned the image with no problems using Nero Express and also with DVD Decrypter, but those final DVDs don't play on my Sony home DVD player. I extracted the .img file using MagicISO and then tried burning the resulting .vob files with Nero Burning Rom, but I either go the 'invalid block address', runtime error, or it wouldn't play on the Sony DVD player (I honestly can't remember which).

Please help. I'm using DVD+ blank disks, so that should be fine. My Sony DVD player manual says it plays DVD Video, DVD-RW/-R, DVD+RW/+R and DVD+R DL. What am I doing wrong? Thanks very, very much. If you prefer, you can email me at Spambaitremoved@ILUVLOCO.org

Adam

They are suspected crapola...would you mind posting the disc information (MID) or even a burn log?

Do you have Imgburn?

I have two Nero log files saved, but they're very long. Is there any way I can post them here as attachment files, rather than copy and paste the entire log file into my thread reply?

I don't really have any other info about my disks, just that they're HP DVD+R 16x disks. If I need to, I'm happy to paste my Nero log here, but it's really long. Thanks again.

See here to post your Nero log: http://my.afterdawn.com/locoeng/blog_entry.cfm/385

But what I think is the real issue here is the media, if you don't have Imgburn get it...it's a small app. Load the program in Write mode and copy/paste all the info from the right window here with a disc in your drive.

I don't think I saved my Nero Burning Rom log. I do have a Nero Express log, but again, it's really long. I have another log, but I can't remember which program it's from; I've tried burning with MagicISO burner, DVD Decrypter, and a few others.

Since I was eventually able to burn this image I'm currently working with, I guess basically my real problem is that most of the time the DVDs won't play on my home DVD player. Usually, I can burn DVDs with no errors (and therefore, no error log); they work fine on my laptop, but that's the only place they'll play. What media would you recommend I use?
