I am working on "The Messenger" which is over the 4.6 threshold. I ripped the files to my HD using DVD Decrypter. Stripped out the needed video and audio streams which left me with a ac3 & m2v file....all went well.
Next I calculated that I needed to scale the product 92% in order to fit it on a single DVD-R.
Next I entered the calculations in ReMpeg & parssed & encoded the files...all went well.
Here is where I got stuck. I used DVD Maestro & imported both the ac3 and m2v files to be compiled. Since I just want the movie and don't care about menus, I just started to compile the movie. When Maestro was done, I expected to "test" the compiled DVD and see that all was ok...but it wasn't. The movie stream was ok but it had no sound. Did I forget to do something in the ac3 file?
Once I get pass this point, I suppose all I need to do is burn the DVD. Any suggestions on my issue???
I have researched 15 different "method's" from various sources. I cannot see where I went wrong. In addition, I have dl'd many forum comments to review for a step I might have missed...but nothing. I'm stumped.
Thank you in advance for any assistance...my first post.

Just to block the most obvious out -- have you listened through the AC3 file you ripped, does it actually play?

Well, thanks for reminding me! I forgot to rule out that possibility by listening to the ac3 file. I'll give it a test and get back...thanks.

Well, I checked out the ac3 file and I can hear it so it must be ok. So, now what? The procedure I used for Maestro, isn't that supposed to merge the two files into one vob file prior to burning?
Thanks again for any help.

Hm, weird. I'm really out of ideas now and not too familiar with Maestro. Someone else?

Finally got it to work. Obviously I must have missed a step. I went over the same procedure and it works fine now. Burned well and works on set top player....thanks for the assist.
On another note, is there a software that will allow burning vob's and the rest of the associated files from the HD to DVD? Some of the movies are less than the limit so I rip the entire DVD to my HD. Now I have tried to burn back these files and I have tried several pgms but apparently I don't have the right one. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Thanks...I have no idea why I asked that question as I have done that before using the very article you mentioned. Please excuse my moment of idiocy...
