Now...add this to this to the mix...The weirdest thing happened this morning! Before I went to bed last night I started to burn a project with just still images. When I came to my computer this morning, there was that pesky "fail" message once again. I'm trying to keep notes on what I am doing now and had failed to indicate the length of time Nero said it would take to complete this particular project, so instead of simply saving the fail log and closing, I selected "burn this project again". The disc drawer sucked shut and the drive began to make noises...I knew something was actually being burned to the disc! It completed the project and the disc plays in my computer. I have not tried it in my DVD player...that will be next. What does this tell us????
I did notice the option to save a file to the hard drive rather than to the DVD recorder and save one this way. I wondered why one would save the file to the hard drive. I will have to investigate the options in Nero and figure out how to burn from a file saved to hard drive.
BTW the DVD I burned earlier today will not play in either of our DVD players. It appears I still have quite a ways to go yet. Any ideas on why the DVD wouldn't work in a DVD player?????
your burn process could all be good, but, it may be down to the discs used now your dvd players doesnt like that brand (usually cheap stuff) what is the dye id code on the discs? use dvdinfo pro or dvd identifier or imgburn
are your discs +R if so may need to booktype to dvd-rom (more like original discs) or try -R
also imgburn on BUILD mode will burn your hard drive files of VIDEO_TS which is correct files by the way,
I am using Maxell DVD-RW, 4.7 GB. I will give you the rest of the info you asked for once I have downloaded the IMG thing you recommend. Thanks for staying with me through this.
Apparently the problem all along has been related to the type of disc I was using. I successfully burned (without a failure message at all!) my project (still images and video clips) using a Magnavox DVD+R Disc, which has a blue coating on the burn side...if that has anything to do with anything.
It would have been so helpful if Nero had given me even a little clue that the problem was related to the media type!
