I gather that the Cyclo and the Edge flash cards offer this feature. Is there any homebrew that runs on the R4 that makes it possible?

I have recently unlocked the Lord of the Dragons, bonus mission 32, in Heroes of Mana. You must first satisfy eligibility requirements and then connect on a week in which the mission is offered for download.

I just want to use the save state to perfect my attack on the Dragon Lord. You spend a lo-ong time getting in supplies and staging and you have to watch everybody so that

a) a porter does not walk into the enemy while he is carry a stone or berry
b) a warrior does not trigger the appearance of the boss
c) a leader does not walk into an enemy cannon when told to go from point A to point B

The actual fight with the Dragon Lord is over in a minute.

I have managed up to now just replaying missions from the beginning until I figured everything out, but now I want something better. I would not feel that using a save state is beating the game. It is a tutorial tool only to my mind.
