Recently my laptop has been overheating every time i play halo. I can't understand why this is, I've tried putting something firm underneath it to give it some support but it hasn't worked very well. Is there something i get can that can go underneath it to stop it from overheating?

By the way i should also mention that when it does this a blue screen comes on for about 1 second with a bunch of writing in white. I read one thing it said "contact system admin". Then the computer restarts itself.

What make and model please? More info will get you help faster!

1)If it's an older lappy then the air vents may be clogged with dust. Generally this is the most common cause for overheating. Get some canned air at a computer store and blow out the openings (do not use an air compressor to do this as the air may contain oil!). Make sure the laptop is off and be careful as the canned air very cold when used improperly.
2)Another solution which is more expensive and may not work if vents are clogged is a laptop cooler. Do a search online for this item and do some reading.
Hope this helps!

I had the same problem with my laptop, my problem was the the laptop had got hot enough to melt the glue on the heat sink and cause it to come lose.

When i turned my laptop on next morning it over heated and shut down after about an hours use. (Gaming)

The heat sink had trwisted and was forcing hot air into the laptop rather than out.

This could be something for you to check aswell. (Just another option, However dont open your laptop up if it is still under waranty)

Hope this helps.

It will probably happen with most graphical games such as halo, Erm.. assasins creed will do the same, an games very similar, its because there are very detailed and put a lot of strain on the graphics card, i dont think you have a hardware problem.

Try another game that is either as highly graphical or more graphical than Halo.

I think you will have the same problem.

remember its just a laptop, they arn't normally build for high end gaming.

But as i said before, chech your heatsink and make sure its in the right position. But i doubt very much if you have a hardware problem.

The reason for all i have said is that if it was a hardware problem then it would happen at any time, not just when gaming.

Let us know how you get on.
