Hello all,
My problem is recently I tried to back up both "King Of Kong" and "No Country for Old Men" and although I have the proper programs to rip the discs, my PC will not even read the discs. Some things I'd like to note:
-They do play fine in a stand alone DVD player
-If I insert it into my PC, it won't even read the discs at all, even to view the contents
-If I open up DVDFab and click my DVD drive, it shows nothing being in there.
-I have NOT gotten to try it on another PC, but I will tonight. Either way, I'd still like to fix my PC.
-I did turn off ANYDVD, restarted my PC, everything, still can't get it to work.
Any help would be MUCH appriciated!

Additionally, this may be my first post here, but I've been a long time user. I never had to post, as I would do a search on this board and always find an answer. This time, no luck. Because of the strangness of my problem, I believe I posted in the proper forum, but if I am incorrect I respectfully oppologize. Thank you.
EDIT: I'm sorry, was this the best topc to post this under? I really don't want to violate any rules here

hummm weird, are the DVDs in good shape? not scratched /dirty etc.?
are both dvdfab decrypter and anydvd up to date?
and what brand of drive are you trying to read the DVDs with?
you could try uninstalling the drive/IDE controllers in device manager rebooting and let windows reinstall it and a firmware update. you fine posting here we will try our best to get you going

Thanks sir,
The brand of my DVD burner is a Memorex dual layer double layer 16X.
DVDFab and AnyDVD are up to date.
I've never myself Quote:
uninstalled the drive/IDE controllers in device manager rebooting and let windows reinstall it and a firmware update.Quote:
but I'm sure with a handy guide it would be no problem.
This is such an odd thing to happen, in all my net searching it doesn't seem like anyone else has had this problem, which has me worried.
Currently, when I insert the disc, it begins to scan the disc like normal, then comes to a sudden stop. Just incase, I will get another copy of the DVD to see if by odd luck I got two bad discs on my last two movies. I will be getting Dan in Real Life as well, I will see if that works. I've actually NEVER updated the DVD drive on this PC, if that is any help. I bought this PC used, and have no idea on the information I need off the DVD burner that came with it.
Thanks for your help in this complicated matter.

Just got back from vacation, and planning on doing that tonight. I'll keep my results posted.
I bought my PC used, is there a way to check my make and model number by say right clicking the drive in my computer? I see that updating with the wrong model number could ruin my drive and I want to be careful. Thanks.

I have DVD decrypter, could you be so kind as to tell me what tab the info would be under? I'm being extra careful as I hear the wrong info can totally ruin my DVD drive.

Thank you for all the help in the past. I can't offer any help with this post, just more data since it has happened about 6 times with me. Computer new to me 4 years ago. I use shrink, anydvd, vobblanker and dvdfabdecrytper. When this situation occurs, anydvd does NOT scan the disc. The above programs AND windows tell me that I need to insert a disc. The last time it happened, I realized I had never tried dvd decrypter. It at least recognized that there was a disc in the drive, but said it was the wrong format. Every disc has been clean and scratch free, and played perfectly in my dvd player. Every one of these dvd's has been a lions gate release. Jeff T
