Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm trying to burn an AVI file to a DVD+R. I'm using HP LightScribe Discs. I successfully burned one file to a folder and then to disc with no problems at all. Since then I have tried two others and there is no sound either in the file on my drive or in the final DVD (yes, I probably should have checked the file in my drive before burning, I realize that now.

I tried adjusting the settings for the sound to Dolby 5.1 instead of the automatic setting, but that just produced a clicking sound in the preview. Using the automatic setting results in no preview loading at all.

I just purchased the newest version of Nero 8 and did the update, so I'm using 8.3.2.1

I'd appreciate any help at all.

Thanks in advance.

Actually the version that I originally had was the 8.3.2.1 The program worked with the first AVI that I burned, but hasn't worked since. I didn't change anything or do anything different from the first to the second. I saw somewhere about downloading the codecs and tried that, and it didn't help any either. I will try the site you suggested, but it just seems disappointing to me that I payed a large some of money for a program that won't work. Thanks for the reply and input.

There is no audio at all in the resulting burn file either on DVD disc or on the file in my hard drive. There is also no sound in the preview screen prior to the burn screen. The sound worked fine in the initial AVI files, though.

I used dvd flick successfully. I actually transcoded with DVD flick and then burned it to disc with Nero (I feel really stupid spending $70 for a program that doesn't work that I really didn't need to buy anyhow). The only problem was that the sound seemed out of sync with the video in some areas. Parts of it were ok, but some parts were really bad. I actually transcoded two files like that, and both of them had the sound/video sync issues. They had them on the computer as well as on the burned disc. When I set up DVD flicks I made sure to do the double pass, but still had that problem. I think I'm going to try ConvertXtoDVD to see if the result is better. I really appreciate your taking the time to help me.

ok

both dvd flick and convertxtodvd have apps built in to repair audio sync, now the avi can report wrong (seen this few times) and thinks it needs to repair when it should not...

now i cand
t find anywhere in dvd flick to turn this off (help anyone plaese jump in here?)

but convertxtodvd can be ticked in options (think you tick to stop auto correcting?)

so from the sounds your nearly there, you dont need nero dvd flick will use imgburn for burning on auto or not auto another free awesome app...

just check your avi isnt out of sync? if ok or not it still could be a codec issue on mpeg codec etc?

check your file with AVI-MUX GUI a free app, load file in top pain, highlight click button just below, it will go to bottom window, then highlight audio part/line, look in box for sync out in ms delay (use this app to correct if avi is out of sync!) just save as new file, take a few seconds.

was the avi a internet download, if so what was the file? pm me the full title...

------------

xvid standalone codec = http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

------------

just read some versions of dvd flick give audio sync probs whats your version? check dvd flick forum for updates etc...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Thank you for the advice. I've been sick, so I haven't been able to try any of your other suggestions yet. Hopefully I'll be feeling up to it tomorrow after my DRs appt.
