Hi all! I'm having a bit of a problem with backing up some of my DVD's. I am getting a "Optimum Power Calibration Error" or something of the sort with every burning program I have. I have Imgburn, DVDecrypter, and Roxio. I have two burners, a Sony (optiarc), and a MadDog (NEC). The media I am using is TYG02, and I have burnt several backups already on this exact stack of media, and it just started having this problem. I'll post a log from Imgburn if it might help.

Oh, and by the way, I tried hitting ignore and continuing the burn, but it just cycles through it's 20 write retries and then fails. I've also tried turning of the OPC, turning off test mode. Another tidbit- I had a few memorex el cheapos sitting around the house, and tried one of these. It burnt fine, although slow. Again, I've used these disks(exact stack) before with no problems. If anyone can help in any way, I'd appreciate it!!

This is how Power Calibration errors are resolved in Nero but i imagine the same sort of thing applies to any burning program - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/270175/1528253

Your firmware is a couple versions out of date, version 1.09 is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2184

though have your crossflashed firmware at some point ?, as a MadDog NEC 4550 would have 1.F1 firmware as per my second link above

Are you sure this is genuine TYG02 media ?, as TYG02 used to be heavily faked

hey, thanks for the reply's, sorry it took me a day to get back to you (I'm old and go to bed early) I'll try re-flashing my firmware and see if that helps. Both drives are out of date on that. As far as the media being authentic, I think that it is...purchased from Supermediastore.com, and I've been buying from them for years. I'll make sure to reply to this thread after I update my firmware. Thanks very much, creaky!!!
