Help please - Nero Vision burn fail

I have Nero 7.10.1.2 installed.
It used to work fine, and I was able to burn away to my hearts content.
Around a couple of months ago whenever I started to burn using Nero Vision, the burn just failed. No error messages or anything, it just didn't complete. Normally it fails after a matter of a few minutes.
I have tried to get a solution from Nero support but have found their answers do not help.
I have AVG antivirus as well, someone told me these do not like each other, but surely this cannot be the problem as they have both run alongside each other for a long time before this?
Any help is most greatly appreciated!

Forgot to say, I have uninstalled using the clean tool a few times to no avail.
I have also loads of codecs also.

Re: the log, I looked in Nero/Nero 7/Core but couldn't see a log file? Bizarre.
Should I try another burn and look again?

History logs for versions 7.10.1.0 onwards are located here...probably hidden files
C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Ahead
Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools->Folder Options->View, and Check "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

and try a burn
then paste log here

To open Device Manager, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
look for ide/atapi line
open + sign
right click on controllers and uninstall it
reboot pc
(check DMA is on!) by clicking controller to open it up, see if ticked or says dma on

Ok, it's the VIA Bus Master IDE Controller? So I right click, click uninstall, reboot.
When I clicked on the controller, I couldn't see DMA?

Under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, I have the following listed:-
Primary IDE Channel
Secondary IDE Channel
VIA Bus master IDE Controller
The top two have "advanced settings" in the tabs with device 0 and device 1 options with "transfer mode -DMA if available" option, but the VIA Bus master IDE Controller one doesn't have this "advanced settings" option.

I haven't uninstalled it just yet, as I wasn't sure about the other stuff.
Do I still need to uninstall it? If I uninstall it, what happens afterwards, do I need to reinstall anything?

Forgot to say, I have had the blue screen of death a few times (not when burning though), and also when checking the event viewer after these events I have noticed that the following errors seem to come up frequently:-
The windows Media Player Network Sharing Service depends on the Universal Plug and Play Device Host service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
the following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

Ok, I have sent a request to Microsoft re: the other issues.
Do you see anything in the Nero log file that gives any indication of what could be causing the burn fails?
