hello,
Here is what I need to do...

1)Extract a single chapter
2)Edit the video in premiere 6.5,
3)Replace the unedited chapter with the edited chapter
4)Burn new DVD with altered chapter

The length of the video will not change

i assume I have to extract the whole disc, Alter one chapter and then burn the new version!
How do i do this while using premiere to edit?

Thanks Ace

You cannot edit commercial movies with Premier or any other home editing suite - assuming that is what you are trying to do?

OK but you may find it quite difficult. You may find that Premier will not open an uplaoded file, but you can only try. When I wanted to do something similar last year I had to upload via a seperate linux cable from a standalone DVD player to the firwire capture and then re-edit, though admittedly I wasn't using Premier. I presume you have not saved the original rendered file on your HD?

In Vegas Video if you rename the VOB to .mpeg it will import directly to the timeline. However the sound won't be there.
If the DVD has an AC3 soundtrack you need to Demux it and then convert it to a .wav (unless premiere takes AC3s) and drop that into the audio time line.

Then edit away and resave the mpeg2, convert it to VOBs and you are done.

It's probably easier to rip and edit the whole thing than a bit of it that you then try and put back in.

What do you need to edit that won't change the lenght of the film?
