- Disable the registery tools (regedit) for windows xp is safe for the system by going to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWARE_MICROSOFT
WINDOWS_CURRENTVERSION_POLICIES_SYSTEM

and change in DisableRegistryTools (DWORD) from 0 to 1

Not necesarily true. If you disable your registry and your computer gets infected with a virus that attacks your registry then your done for. I remember that once i got infected with a worm that blocked access to my registry; because of it i hard an extremely hard time getting rid of it, and after i did, lots of my programs wouldnt work. Then you might say 'well why not just enable it again?' well when a virus attacks your registry, 9 out of 10 times they will block any kind of access to the registry. I remember that when i would try to enable it it would display an error message saying that i needed to be the administrator or have permission to do that change. Thing was I WAS logged in as the admin. The only way that you would gain entry to the registry is you would have to disable the process of the virus and then enable the registry then delete the virus completely, otherwise when you reboot, your registry will be blocked again by the virus. so pretty much: disable at your own risk

If you want full control over your computer, do not disable it.
