Nero Burning Rom/Imapi/Wave Editor Problems

Anyone who can help, please tell me what you think my problem is. I have been splitting Mp3 files with Nero Version 5.5 using the wave editor. By cutting and pasting the part of the file I cut unto a new wave page (my interpretation), I have been saving the edited track to my hard drive in Mp3 format. Nero does this by saving the edited track while creating a peak file. Recently, my computer froze and I used ctrl/alt/del to stop Nero from saving of one of my edited tracks. I ended up clicking the "end process" button under the line imapi.exe to free my computer. I had done this before, so I thought this would work again. Problem is, however, that now Nero will no longer save any edited track, much less create a peak file, unto my hard drive. There are no other problems with Nero besides the one above, except the loss of an Mp3 file I recently used insistently with the wave editor to troubleshoot my problem. Is my problem related to imapi or Nero? I tried to uninstall Nero and reinstall it, but this did not work. I have no idea where to start with this mess.
