Hello,
I want to add 120gb HD to my existing 60gb IDE HD. I want to set new 120gb HD to a master and existing 60gb HD to slave, but all my files are stored in 60gb hd. How do I migrate all the files to new master 120gb HD assuming I installed two HD in right way. Is there a free or commerical software that allows to migrate harddrive files to different harddrive? I have win xp home edition with duron cpu. Also, how do I set up bios and cmos b/c if I want to add second HD I have to configure bios or cmos so windows will recongize new harddrive. Could I import existing files to new blank master hd or do I have to reinstall windows xp to new 120gb ide HD. I really don't want to reinstall windows. I have roxio easy cd ver.9 could I use roxio to migrate files to new harddisk? I know how to set jumpers for master and slave, but I am not too confident configuring bios and cmos setting. Could anyone can provide a step-by-step to configure cmos and bios setting after installing second harddisk? I look forward to reading your suggestions and greatly appreciated.
P.S. If you need to further information please feel free to ask and I will do my best to assist you.
Have nice day.

I recommend the use of the program Norton Ghost to copy the files across. Installing thew new drive is simple. All you need to do after plugging it in (if it's IDE make sure you set the jumpers on the two drives to the right place), is to go into the BIOS (usually the delete key) and then go to Advanced CMOS Settings. In there it should offer a list of the devices your motherboard can boot from. Initially, you want your old drive first so you can make the backup copy onto the new drive.
Then you can reboot, go in again and swap it round so you boot off the 60.

Here's an idea though, would it not be simpler just to leave windows on the 60GB and just use the 120 for additional storage?
