I have an old PII board now and the last time it started up it had real trouble so I am probably living on borrowed time. I have no need for CPU power most of what I do is disk bound and that is where I put my money. Lots of slots, SATA on the board and plenty of high speed USB ports are what I am looking for. Oh and I would prefer not to pay a lot for it.

Any suggestions?

Hey, this has the same amount of sata ports but it's cheaper.

The second PCI-E slot is useless anyway.

Everything else krj recommended is top notch.

Tnanks guys all were exactly what I asked for. I will go with the cheapest which is less than I was willing to pay but a little more than I wanted to pay.

How about a CPU and RAM? I would be happy with 2 G of RAM, I only have 1.5 now and the slowest (cheepest) CPU. My 1.7 Ghz PII has been sufficent.

What is and S/P DIF? I am feeling real old not knowning outputs on a motherboard!

Thanks again!

krj15489 also suggested some RAM and a CPU. Both those parts are good.

Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format. Essentially it's digital audio for use with home theatre systems.

Sorry, I guess I didn't get past the third grade! I do not always read as carefully as I should.
You guys are great!

I would first take time to thank all of you. Several, actually most of the main componants, you suggested took user satisfaction awards. I was very impressed!

I waited till I came back from vacation to order and the motherboard was out of stock and now they have discontinued that item. I am looking for a replacement for that board. GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX

I do not expect to expand memory so that is not an issue. I would prefer to have more than 4 SATA connections but I could live with 4 as long as there was eSATA support. I prefer to have more than less expansion slots. At this point in time an extra 20-40 buck does not matter.
