I recently bought a used nintendo ds lite from a friend, and when I say used I really mean used. Although it's still in working condition, it's a real pain in the ass to use. I'm not sure what it's called but the thing that holds the top screen on next to the r button managed to fall off. Not only that, the contrast of the top screen is out of whack. It's so light that I can barely see anything. I was looking at it, and it seems like one of the ribbons on the inside is screwed up, but I'm not sure. I'm not that concerned about the thing next to the shoulder button as I am the contrast of the top screen. What's causing this, and how can it be fixed? I'm new to the whole DS scene so I'm clueless.

that ds is screwed the contrast on top is because a wire is disconected or something happened to my old ds original its usually cause when a hinge breaks and thats why its all messed up and recently my ds hinge broke ... well i know the price for the ds case replacement its $50 on warranty $75 without and shipping depends on where you live
and im not sure about the top screen sorry

the top screen is probabaly wonky because the ribon wire has come loose.
take the DS apart...see where the ribon cable go's...flip up the 'tiny' lid on the connector socket thingy...insert the ribbon fully, then click back down the wee flipper to keep the ribon wirw in place.
...and roberts yer fathers brother.
.
while your at it..look at these:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4245
the site also has different colours of replacement case($20 approx)
.
you'll need one of these too:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1887
a tri-wing screwedriver.
(i assume you already have a normal cross screwedriver)
remember there are screwew underneath all those little rubber pads near the top screen....and under the pads on the bottom of the DS too.
..
by the way...it'll take you ages the first time you do this.
And do it on the floor, coz the little springs inside the L+R shoulder buttons will go pinging away if your not carefull.
.
1 last thing...
goto youtube...type 'replace DS case' into the search box, and you will find loads of guides taking you through the process step-by-step.
good luck.
...and report back here with a smile when you have a shiny, like new DS.

Thanks for the help everyone, but now I have a new problem. I was going to open the DS, and I handled the top half pretty roughly. Now my DS won't even turn on. What could have possibly happened? I assume it has something to do with the ribbon cable being fed through that hinge thing because nothing was exposed that could cause this. Dang. The DS lite is a real faulty piece of crap.
