My LG 4040B not recognizing DVD+R?!?!

I am trying 2 back up a dvd movie and once i get to burning it, Nero and RecordNow Max says the DVD+R is already full! (I JUST OPEN IT FROM ITS PACKAGE!) Its a Memorex DVD+R 4x. PLZ Help
