Speed up burn process

hi, is there anyway i can speed up my burning process with nero 7 Without loosing quality of the movie? Like right now When i am burning a DVD it takes between 1 1/2 - 2 hours to complete, .But i have to say the quality is great after they burn. I am using winxp with Sony+R 1x16x DVDs . Is there a setting i can go to in nero to set it up. ? if so where? Thanks People.

1 to 2 hours sounds good to me... (mines the same) but i use CCE
you may find quicker apps out there but quailty will be the set back...
just read a guy at 12 hours got it down to 9

the burning takes about 10 mins
rest of the time is ENCODING making say an avi file into dvd compliant mpeg2 vob/ifo/bup (dvd) then it burns the files to dvdr
size of the file and pc specs all make a difference so all times vary, and on setting say set to max quality

Encoding and burning should take no more than 30 minutes using DvdFab Decrypter. Similar times also using DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in background.
Burning with Nero Express at 8x takes about 10 minutes.
Check to ensure that you are in DMA mode and not PIO.

Thanks ,But would that provide a lesser quality or would the DVD quality still be the same as if i was burning 1 for 1 1/2 or 2 hours like it was doing before. thanks

O, thanks , I am using nero vision for my burning,Is that the same as Nero Express . where can i find the 8x speed settings? thanks

It seems that you're getting lots of different confusing answers in this thread...that's because you are not being clear. What exactly are you doing? If you're using Nero Vision, you're not backing up a DVD(hope not, should use Recode for that).
If you are making a DVD from an AVi, Mpeg...that you have downloaded for example, then yes, Nero Vision is the one application you need to use and 1 1/2-2 hours is appropriate, it depends on your PC's capabilities. If you set it up to go faster, you will lose quality.
When you say "burning"- that does not include the conversion/transcoding/editing. Burning should only take 10-15 minutes. If it takes about an hour, most likely a DMA problem.
Be more specific when you refer to "burning"(unless you actually meant just the burning phase).

thanks, I am Using Nero Vision ,and i am burning Movies That are allready in DVDrip mode from Uto*rent that i downloaded to my PC . I did 8 so far the last couple days with nero vision, What i am doing is Just opening Nero Vision to Burn DVD than I Load my dvd file in and hitting Burn , and about 1 1/2 hous later they are done.

You say is already a "DVDrip". That does not mean is a DVD compilation. That means the movie comes from a DVD(as in opposed to CAM,TS,TC...), usually in AVI/divx format.
If they were already in DVD format(which means you have a Video_Ts folder with a bunch of VOB, IFO and BUP files), then you use Nero Express or Nero Burning Rom, or the free ImgBurn and burn a DVD video(not just a simple Data DVD). All would take you 15min +/-, burning at 8X. You would not use Nero Vision(if indeed you had the DVD structure).
So, it appears that you have an AVI that you are converting to DVD using Nero Vision; 1 1/2 hours is okay. You want it faster, get a faster PC or lessen the quality settings.

OK i understand totaly now, Thank you very much for your help, 1 to 2 hours is fine with me , i just wanted to know if that was normal .since i am realy new to this. but so far so good . thanks

Another very good program for converting those movies to DVD is ConvertxtoDVD(pay for application), and DVD Flick(free). ConvertxtoDVD might be faster than Nero Vision. If you have a movie that requires subtitles, both can do removable subtitles(unlike Nero Vision that can only do embedded subs, with some tweaking).
