Installed the game.No probs. But when I hit play it says DVD-ROM not found.I installed the patch update from gears of war website.Nope still didn't work. I don't think I have enough memory to save the 1 GB the game requires or the 12 GB HDD space.

-I am using Windows XP.

-Computer details says: AMD Athlon(tm)64 x 2 Dual

-My processor is 4000+ 2.10 GHz,896 MB of RAM

-System says: Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002,Service Pack 2

-My video card is ATI Radeon X 1200 Series

GAMES REQUIREMENTS:

- Windows vista or XP

-2.4+ GHz Intel,or 2.0+ GHz AMD

-1 GB RAM, 12 GB free hard drive space

-video card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600+, ATI X700+

The first time I installed it I actually got it to work and just pressed escape to mess with it later. But then came the DVD-ROM not found and no luck since. When I first installed it,it asked for updates I needed,I did so and that's how it worked the first time. But after un-installing and re-installing it over and over, it doesn't even ask me for the updates.

Is this message caused, because I don't have enough free space? It worked before though.

My PC says

-92.7 GB USED

-205 GB FREE

So that's pretty much the 1GB I need right? I got a basic cheap
memory. Do I need to upgrade? Any cheap priced quality 2 GB memory drives anywhere if I do.

I am thinking about upgrading to an extra 2 GB. But I won't do that unless it's necessary. To add an extra 1GB the people that made my PC said it'd be fifty bucks,I haven't asked about 2 GB. I saw one at walmart a 1GB add on for $25 each. But i'd still need to install it. So should I just pay the cash to do it at that place and get the 2GB upgrade?

Any help is appreciated. Also I did the basic things like delete temp files, disk defrag, dick clean up,speed boost with speed it up(internet is way faster now).

If this message is due to not enough disk space,if someone could let me know.I have the game re-listed on ebay right now.Trying to see if it will play, or just sell it if it won't play and I need more memory.I can always buy another PC copy later, when I upgrade if needed, which I'm sure I do.It's going for $20 with free ship and buy it now $25 free ship.If anyones interested. It's new and at least if I sell it,someone else whose computer can run it can enjoy it. I already bought another copy of gears of war for xbox 360, since I lost the first copy. Part 2 comes out in november anways.

Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is if I'm honest, but an X1200 is not going to play the game well, and you'll have problems with only 896MB of RAM as well. Realistically your PC isn't cut out for playing GoW.

Yeah,I figured as much.I got it to work though once and it actually played the first time.Like actually worked. That's why I didn't understand what had happened afterwards the next time I tried to load it.I sold it anyway.I'm looking for a good PC desktop computer for running games at a reasonable price,if you could recommend any.Someone told me ebay, but I doubt their any good.I'd rather ask here than let a sales rep sucker me into things I don't need,or a cheap PC.And sorry.I'm not good at explaining things on forums.Oh and the X1200 was the ATI Driver X1200.The game required NVIDIA GeForce 6000+,ATI X700+.I went to this site called can I run it.And it couldn't identify which grphics card I had, and I didn't have enough space to save the game.Well I gave it a shot.I'm not a PC expert.

It's difficult to recommend a cost-effective gaming PC to someone these days, they're usually pretty expensive or they have crap graphics cards. I usually recommend people build their own, but if that's not an option, perhaps try something like:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229003
That's not a bad PC for the price. The graphics card is somewhat mediocre, but it's miles better than the X1200, and will certainly be able to run GoW.
