ge force go 6100 probs please help

I have a GatewayML3108b laptop with nividia geforce go 6100 graphics i was told this supported vga tv out can anyone tell me if this is true and if so how i would set this up i have a vga to s video connector but cant get a picture on my tv any help would be much apreciated thanks

if it has a s-video output slot then yea its true. im not sure about laptops but on desktops to get picture on the TV u have to right click on the desktop and choose properties and then go to the settings tab. there should be 2 blue boxes (representing monitors/tvs) and you'll have to check the boxes "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" and you might need to click "use this as my primary monitor" not too sure about that though

*edit* also, it looks crappy on normal desktop but it should look pretty good with movies and games as long as you take them down to a lower resolution

no theres no s video slot just vga slot which i was told if i attached a vga to s video connector would get picture on tv but cant get it to work when try to detect tv it tells me cant find and do i want to enable tv support but wont stay enabled

"VGA TV out" isn't necessarily S-Video support. I assume your TV doesn't have a VGA connector you can use? if it's a standard def TV you will need to set the resolution to 640x480 to get a picture.

ugh sry about that, when u said VGA for some reason i thought of RCA. my bad. sammorris, aren't tvs usually at 320x240 resolution? with my s-video output even 640x480 looks really bad (unreadable text) on my 20inch flat screen.

Nope, TVs are 640x480 for normal ones, 853x480 for widescreen for NTSC. For PAL (as used in the UK), they're 720x576 normal aspect, 1024x576 for widescreen.

oooo wait the lowest resolution my computer will go down to is 800x600 i thought it was 640x480....hm o well but that makes sense why it looks so crappy now. thanx for the info
