DVD To Hard Drive For Splitting

I am trying to copy DVD?s to my hard drive and then use a splitter to takes some scenes out. When I copy them I get the chapters and I have two splitters that will not recognize chapters. How to I burn or copy it to my hard drive so it plays like a streaming movie like I get from my newsgroup. That way I can use my splitter.

I have tried DVD Decrypter , DVD Shrink and Rip4Me and it does not do the job, unless I am not doing it right?

In DVD Shrink, go to Edit->Preferences->Output Files and uncheck the option "Split VOB files into 1GB size chunks". This way, you will have one single vob.

I think DVD Shrink is a good tool,but it can't run on my Mac.
I read some reviews about popular DVD rippers (Win/Mac), and I find there are so many useful tools.If I want enjoy my DVD on my iPod when traveling,what should I do?
