Not sure if this Q is appropriate for this forum, but here it goes:

I did the 3260 change and I even had to download a .dll file to get things working. However, what I have found now is that some files that I try to convert get the error, "Error Opening File". What does that mean? What is that indicative of?

Load a Real Audio file that you want to convert and click on "Convert" - now check the "Destination Directory" at the top right of the settings page.

If the specified directory doesn't exist or can't be accessed for some reason, Ripper can't open an output file - hence the rather ambiguous error message.

If you change the setting to a valid directory, and then close and re-start Ripper, it will recognize the new directory and should work okay.

If you can't get it to work renaming the codecs in the "common files real" directory, try going to the "codecs" subdirectory of the "real alternative" directory (in "program files" directory) and copy and rename the codecs there, i.e. "c:\program files\real alternative\codecs".

You can't play .r1m files.
The correct method is to use streaming media recording.

@shosho333

Please go back and read the first post of this thread.
There has been some additions at the bottom of that first post, that explain what versions of Streambox Ripper support Real Audio/Media conversion and how to get the correct version of StreamBox Ripper.

Ok this did fix that problem, but also StreamBox is not ripping from CDs at all anymore. It says "track not found" and gives me a run-time error.

Is there something better out these days for rippin real and everything else? Anyone know the solution to the CDA rippin problem?

The only dent.dll file that I can find a reference to is associated with some spyware toolbars for Internet Explorer.

Real does use these codecs.
ddnt3260.dll DolbyNet(tm) Audio codec for RealAudio(tm) (32-bit)
dnet3260.dll DolbyNet(tm) Audio codec for RealAudio(tm) (32-bit)

Those codec files should be in Real Player. If you don't have them then you may have to do all the updates.
RealPlayer > Tools > Check for Update.

Some slightly older versions of those codecs can be downloaded here and sometimes they work better with StreamBox Ripper anyway.
ddnt3260.dll

@Sonic98

I do not have any problems ripping CD's with StreamBox Ripper.
I am using the 2.009 version that is included in.
StreamBox VCR Suite v2.0
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_capture_tools/streambox_vcr_suite.cfm

There is a problem with the CDDB look-up functions, but they can be fairly easily fixed by adding some entries to your hosts file.
Add the following entries to the hosts file:

64.71.163.204 cddb.cddb.com
64.71.163.204 cddb.cddb.org
64.71.163.204 cddb.cddb.net
64.71.163.204 us.cddb.com
64.71.163.204 sc.ca.us.cddb.com
64.71.163.204 sc2.ca.us.cddb.com
64.71.163.204 sj.ca.us.cddb.com
64.71.163.204 sj2.ca.us.cddb.com

As explained here.
http://www.freedb.org/modules.php?name=Sections&sop=viewarticle&artid=46

I use the GDS Hosts File and Hosts Toggle.
http://accs-net.com/hosts/
http://accs-net.com/hosts/HostsToggle/

As for other CD rippers there maybe hundreds of them.
Some very good ones are available right here.

Hi,

I am having a problem with Streambox Ripper 2.009 and thought that maybe you could help me, please. My OS is Windows XP SP2, initially with Real Player 10.

The thing is that all RealAudio files I convert to either mp3 or wma with the help of Streambox Ripper sound fine only till the 9th or 10th minute, after which the sound becomes garbled. There has been only one file (13 or 14 min) that was not garbled.

What I have tried is this:

1. Upon getting those dll error messages made copies of the respective dll files and renamed them, so convertion become possible in the first place.

2. Tried avoiding the drag & drop method, so as to start converting files without playing them.

3. Renamed ram files to ra which made batch convertion possible.

4. Replaced the cook3260.dll file with cook3260.dll version 6.0.8.507.

5. Replaced the cook3260.dll file with cook3260.dll version 6.0.8.2523 (had to download a 9mb rar file on dial up for this)

6. Finally uninstalled RealPlayer 10 and installed RealPlayer 8 (couldn't find version 9, www.forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html doesnt feature it).

None of the above has helped so far and I am beginning to be upset about it! Could someone pleeeease help me?

Thanks in advance
Andrew

Thank U Veblin For Your Reply It Helped Me Make My Streambox Ripper Function Again

GUYS FOR EVERYONE ASKING ABOUT THE (RAM) PROBLEM SPECIALY DRKCINEMA
There is no problem all what u have to do is to rename the ram file to rm file and that is easy by changing the extensions

N.B: If u don't see the extension you might have to change your Files Options.

That is all hope i have been useful for u.
