Help, Sony DRX-700UL won't recognise dvd-r's

Hi Guys,

Recently bought a second hand Sony DRX700UL but it didn't come with any software.

Not a huge issue I thought but as the missus will agree, I was wrong yet again. The drive connected & was recognised no problems but for some reason it won't recognise dvd-r discs, just keeps asking for writable media. It's fine with +r's but no joy with -.

Problem with this is, my players don't like +r's & all I want to use it for is a bit of file backup but mostly dvd back-up.

Anyone got any ideas?

If it won't recognize pre-burnt DVD-R then booktype will work, but if it won't recognize media you are trying to burn, then not sure exactly what the problem is. It will recognize other DVD+R?
