Firstly I would stop using it until you get the temps down.
Check the fan is working and that the heatsink is fitted correctly and not gunked up with dust etc...
Also check the case fans are working correctly.
Is it a skt 775?

Any standard after market cooler should do the job, just make sure its compatible with the CPU type.
Something like this would cover most CPU types.

I would also purchase some cleaning fluid to clean off the old compound and some more Arctic Silver or Ceramique (my choice)

It may be written on the pc on a label.

Without a secondary program such as Lavalys Everest (free trial available) the best way to get a complete as possible view is by doing the following.

Click start, then select run and then type in the following regedit and press carriage return.

Then navigate to to processor via the following points.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
HARDWARE\
DESCRIPTION\
System\
CentralProcessor\
0

Make a note of what it says about the CPU and post details.

I'm not sure if its a Skt 478 or 775.
Download the following app and run it, it will tell you everything we need to know.
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Start by reading here, and select the Intel instructions to give an overview how to work on a heat sink.
You should buy some heat sink compound and cleaner before doing it, as reusing the old stuff won't do you any favours at all.
Worst case scenario would be, use a new heat sink which will come with compound on it, clean off the old stuff with a dry cloth until clean, and then pop the new one on.
