pretty much like the title says, i recently disassembled my DS (FAT) to paint the shell, and after reassembling it. . .it wont turn on. ive checked all the ribbons and everything but no go. so i decided to really test it out i got a hold of another FAT and swapped all the innards. then things got weirder. . .
it turned on,SUCCESS . . ?
wrong, for some reason, BOTH screen's info was being sent to only the top one and the bottom one was just all white, yet it would "somewhat" responed to touch (i could hear the click click click from typing on pictochat) and after a few times of rebooting. . . it stopped working all together and now it wont turn on at all like the other one
anyone got any clues?
Sounds like you damaged the ribbon cable that connects the top and bottom or have inserted improperly it . You have enough of a connection to start the DS but not enough to pass video.
is there anyway visibly to tell if you've damaged it? and far as i can tell, it's inserted EXACTLY as it was before i pulled it out. and aparantly its not even enough to turn on anymore. as i said in the post, it stopped turning on all together
i dont believe i did. like i said, it was turning on for a while, and for the weirdest reason, showing both screens images on only the top one. then later just stopped working all together. im assuming from the fact that it did turn on and "somewhat" work, that the ribbons and contacts are fine. im thinking it may have gotten static shock at some point that i never felt and messed up the mobo.
so then it may be narrowed down to blown fuse, because it's the latter. so where do i find the fuse box on this thing? (kidding) but assuming it is a fuse, i take it there will be soldering involved. . .
yea, kinda figured as much. well thanks for the help. shouldnt be to hard finding a used one at some Gamestop and swapping the organs
"i dont know what happened, i just charged it and now it wont turn on"
