msdvr export to mpeg2 file using Nero Vision 5

Just bought Nero 8 because of our new Vista computer. Able to transcode 2 hour movie from Windows Media Center to a file to burn later to a dvd with another program I like to edit with which doesn't play with msdvr files. But am unable to export successfully with 3 1/2 hr movies. I tried 3 different ones. The computer: HP d4999t, Vista Home Premium (32-bit), Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66GHz), 4GB RAM , 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT, ATSC -NTSC TV tuner with PVR . I put the movie in the Project Video Track and clicked Export. On the Export Video Screen I told it to export to Mpeg2 for DVD quality (high quality 2 pass). Then clicked Export to send it to a folder on the E drive. Two of them hung up after 1 second. One hung up after 7 minutes. One time I let it go for another hour to see if it would do anything. I had to eventually abort and then was told the program was not responding and it had to shut down. Anything come to mind to anyone? Here is what the log said on the last one:

I have a tv signal going into the pc. Windows Media Center records tv programs to msdvr files. Sometimes I like to edit out the commercials and burn them onto dvd's. I have been using Pinnacle for years to edit my own home movies. I like it better than Nero for editing and I am a lot more familiar with it, although I've had Nero for a few years too and I like it better than Pinnacle for some functions. Pinnacle does not work with msdvr files so I have to recode them to something that it can recognize. I use Nero to do that. I may as well have Nero recode it to a type of file that not only is recognized by Pinnacle but that won't take a lot of rendering to burn onto a dvd after editing. So I recode (export) to Mpeg2. My E drive is a hard drive that I use only for storing large video files.

nero to capture from tv to a file for pinnacle cut out first software. as yuo say

A tv show is captured using Windows Media Center to a singlefile with extension .dvr-ms . See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVR-MS , which I just read for the first time. .dvr-ms files are mpeg files but with metadata and drm . Maybe it won't export because it's protected by drm . I guess some shows and movies shown on tv are protected and some are not. So I can make a dvd of Philadelphia Story and Reefer Madness but not Lord Of The Rings. But if anyone can read the log and come up with a different answer, please let us know.
