The coaster count is at 6 in a row now because of buffer underruns. I've never had problems making Audio CD's from Mp3's before, but now I can't burn a single one. I've searched the forums and found nothing that has helped thus far. Hopefully someone smarter than me can figure this out.

I've defragged, changed my IDE controllers to DMA, rebooted everytime before I burn and closed all unneeded apps, I've burned at slower speeds, I just can not figure out what is wrong. Im afraid it might be time to get a burner.

Program: Nero
OS: XP Pro
Comp: P4 1.7ghz
Ram: 512mb
Burner: Samsung SM-308B

Burn Settings: DAO - No pause at end of tracks - Finalize CD

I've had the buffer underruns come anywhere between 40% and 97%

You seem to be doing everything right and your systems specs are more than enough. Have you added any new hardware/software recently that might coincide with the beginning of your problems?

Just a shot in the dark, but you may have a bunch of spyware doing their thing in the background possibly causing a problem. Adaware and Spybot are good freeware tools for removing spyware (a good practice regardless).

You may also try updating to the latest version of Nero. If you are using Nero 5.5 then the latest is 5.5.10.54. If you're using Nero 6 then it would be 6.3.0.2.

How old is the burner in question?

Hi,

I had a similar problem with my burner but in my case it happened after adding a D-link network card. I added the card in June and didn't burn anything until September. XP showed no problems with the hardware.

The quickest way to determine if your problem is similar is to reboot in safe mode and try burning a disc. That will quickly tell you if it is a network problem, video problem or sound card problem.

Good Luck.
