What a nice flame-free discussion. I'm glad to be part of this board and all the polite, helpful and sane folks who hang here. I never have to look far or wait long to solve any problems I might have.
(P.S. IC8 does have a few annoying quirks that I of course ignored ;)

There's no best program for best image quality (DVD+R) dvd backups m8. There are the most recommended programs and you see them posted here on this thread.

Well said Afterdawn MysticE as I couldn't agree more wit' ya! I tested Pinnacle InstantDVD 8.0 and I'm very impressed! My preferance still is DVD Shrink 3.14 and there's absolutly nothing wrong with based on my own tests.

I have tried Recode, Shrink, DVD2One & DVDXcopy. In my honest opinion Pinnacle Instantcopy is the best for ME!. I will stick with this programme until proven otherwise.
There's nothing wrong with that m8 as you're the boss of your pc. I've already done my extensive testing and DVD Shrink 3.14 (perform deep analysis= 2 pass) works best for me and there's nothing wrong with that either, right?

I would agree that Instant Copy produces the hightest quality copy single disc solution when compared to the popular programs out there. But this is mostly noticeable with long movies or when large amount of compression is required (20-40 percent). For example, I redid Star Wars I and Independence Day with IC after first attempt with DVD2One. I'm happy with the results - sharper video and no pixelation. For most movies that require little to no compression though, I would stick to the faster transcoders.
