Okay, let's get straight to my problem. I am using a Dell Inspiron E1505 (Windows Vista) with a Dual Layer DVD Burner. Using my Nero Vision 5 (Which came with Nero 8) I am trying to Burn a .avi movie. I can get through all of the steps fine, up to the actual burning. It tells me it is using an Image Recorder and not my DVD burner. How can I get Nero Vision to reconize my Burner, even though I am currently using the latest version of Nero?

I know it sounds stupid, but what is an error log? and no, I have not burned with nero before. I was told it's the best source for burning. I also had this problem with Roxio, that is why I switched to Nero

I would beg to differ. ImgBurn is a better burn engine, IMHO.

Roxio and Nero can conflict with each other. Uninstall Roxio if you haven't already.

I uninstalled Roxio, and Nero still tells me it is using the Image Recorder. How do I get Nero to use my Dual Layer DVD burner? Or, rather, to reconize it?

Are you trying to burn that AVI as is, an AVI, or are you trying to make a DVD-Video?
You don't have the option to select your burner as the destination from a drop-down menu?
Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!

It's an Internal Burner. All I know is that it's a Dual Layer Burner. How do I find the name? Maybe I should consider an external Burner, I mean, this is a lot of hassel for a couple of DVDs. Would an external Burner work as well as an internal one?

I also have a Codec installed, DivX. Should I install another, or will they mess with eachother?

you may need xvid codec too
but your drive not showing is something else...
you may have a ide driver problem and dma issue..
also need to use roxiozap tool get rid of the conflicting driver, uninstalling isnt good enough.
