Hey all! I´ve got a problem which bothers me, I´m looking for some advice.

So, ive bought a new computer, it has been used so its not straight from the shop. So Its working fine, im listening to music and just browsing some webpages. However, I decided to install Oblivion, since my computer finally can handle it :). So after about an half hour of play, the computer shuts down, no warning, no nothing. Just Poff!. Very strang, but I turn it on again, and the same thing happens when I´ve played Oblivion about 40 min.

So, the computer is overheated? No, The displays shows its about 33 degres, at maximum it was 37. And when the computer has autmaticly shut itself down, it doesnt start for a while, between 5-500 minutes. This has happened 3 times..

So, is it something about the game? Something Im doing wrong?

The buy is not a scam, so those comments can be spared. The seller is willing to help, and I have good contact with him. So im asking you out there, any suggestions what to look up?

Computer specs:
Intel pentium 4 3.00 GHZ
3.00 GB of ram
Graphic card: Radeon x1300xT/x1600Pro/X6150 series
bla bla

Oh and yeah, i´ve tried to use lower settings on oblivion, doesnt work.

might be a power failure. what kind of power supply does it have? are there any errors when you boot up again? does it only happen while playing a game?

It may not necessarily be the CPU at fault, but perhaps the graphics card or chipset overheating, or as drako suggests it could be a faulty power supply. With a cheap PC like this, that's probably the most likely cause of all. I suggest you ask the seller to fit a replacement power supply, preferably one by a reliable brand such as Antec, Tagan, Corsair or Seasonic.

i think you've got a problem with power supply. you should bring it to a computer technician to figure out what's wrong with it.
