I just bought a ps2 v4 m#35001j and have read about transfering mc exploit with a thumb drive I don't have or see any type port. I am trying to set up a hd I also the neteork adapter,want to swap magic ad hdoader. I have the disc that came eith the adapter but it is the official sony loader from what i have read that won't work with anything but a sony hd and I can't find a sony hdd so I was going to try the maxto or the seagate. Can anyone tell me if this can still be done

I have the fat ps2, but no sony hard drive. You can use a maxtor or a seagate to make this work.
Get HD Loader, but I highly recommend swap magic. It will make your life so much easier.

thanks guys, but I need to know where the usb port is on my ps2 I have version 4 model# 35001
i am looking at swap magic and hd loader wher is a good place to look during this time all help is apreciated

i found them the usb port the guy i got it from had a or should i say some kind of dust cover on it
i amm looking at ways to make it work the best [and cheapest way] can you give me some direction to search I know alittle about pcs and backing up but not at all a GURU i CAN BACK UP DVDS. WHICH IS BETER HD LOADER OR SWAP MAGIC I'VE READ ALOT OF FORUMS ABOUT A MC EXPLOIT WITH OUT EITHER OF THE 2 DISC BUT NOT SURE IF I CAN TACKLE THAT

Hdloader allows you to play games from a HDD. This is much more preferable because it uses the ps2 lens less and in turn may extend its usable life. It not perfect though, as some games have compatiblity issues. A propriety sony hdd is not necessary. you can use any hdd aslong as its compatible. Swap magic is a disk you need to buy retail. Swap magic backups wont work. If it did you dont need swap magic in the first place.
You might want to ask the person you bought your ps2 from if the console is modded or not. Chances are that it either have already a modchip installed or he has a swap magic that he can sell you cheap.

The easiest way for you to sort out the exploit would be by using either the ARMAX or Gameshark cheat discs that support USB. With the exploit set up you will be able to run cogswaploader which is the same as Swap Magic, and also be able to run the latest HDloader which works with way more games than a retail copy. Both of those would be directly run from Memory Card, so the only swapping of discs would be to put your backup game in.

thank's for the help so far I just got a copy of swap magic can some one tell me where a good tutprial is to do a memory exploit. I'v got the adapter also I will be looking into instaling a hd soon
