Can Nero 6 get a dvd TV show into the pc

I have a dvd with an hour of a show from TV and family is on for 1 minute. Can Nero 6 get the show on the pc and then maybe I can edit it
and get the one minute out. I was able to make another copy from dvd to dvd but dont know how to get it on the pc
If anyone knows how can you give me baby steps
I am a Pc moron
my pc is from 2005 and I have xp2

It will be easier with DVD Shrink.

Install DVD Shrink.
Insert the DVD in the drive.
Run DVD Shrink, and since you have Nero installed, do this:
Click 'Edit' 'Preferences' 'File I/O', check the box 'Enable burning with Nero' 'OK'
Click 'Open Disc' - the movie should load.
Click 'Re-author'
Look to the right side of the window, under'Main Movie', drag 'Title 1' from right to left side of window.
(or highlight 'Title 1' and right click, select 'Add'.
When Title 1 is on the left window, highlight it, right click and 'Set start/end frames'
Use the start/end slider to select your clip, then 'OK'.
Click 'Backup' and from the drop down menu, select backup target.choose 'Create ISO image file and burn with Nero'.
Click on the 'Burn Setting' tab and choose to burn at 4x.
Put a blank DVD disk in the burner
Click 'OK'

I just want to ask you a few things
the minute I want Is at the end of clip 5 for one minute so how would I get the one minute out of the clip on to the pc or did you tell me already lol .....sorry I want the clip in the pc so that I can Email it to my family
Before I put the blank dvd in the pc to save a copy
Can I uses a dvdrw so I dont mess up
Also does this take an hour or so just so I know the time frame

Do you mean that you wish to save the clip to the hard drive in a folder (instead of burning immediately).
You do that by clicking 'Backup' and selecting 'Hard disk folder' as the backup target.
Inside that folder you will find two other folders.
One is 'AUDIO_TS' - which will be empty.
The other is 'VIDEO_TS' - inside that folder are all the files required to burn a standard DVD.
If you wish to simply play back your clip on the PC, you should be able to select 'VTS_01_1.VOB', double click and your media player should play it.
If you wish, you can copy that particular .VOB file to the desktop, and change the name from VTS_01_1.VOB to anything.mpg if this suits.
If you elect to save the clip to a DVD folder (as above), you may now exit DVD Shrink and at a later time, run DVD Shrink again and load the files from the VIDEO_TS folder, 'Backup', and elect to burn the disk.
You can burn any type of disk that your burner normally accepts.
Since you are dealing with such a small clip, the backup to the folder will take a few seconds - the burning of the disk takes around fiften minutes (no matter the size of the clip).

I have been reading and rereading and I am soooo proud of myself
Right now I have found the place where I want it to start and I dont know how to find the place to make it stop. Its only for a minute .
Once I get in on to the hard drive I will make rename it like you said. Is it possible to make it into a cd once its on the hard drive or is that silly. I want to put it in email also

I did it . I and my double digit Iq kept working until I understood thankkkkkkk you so much
What I did was start a little earlier and finish a little later and I lost the earlier and later I didnt need and guess what it is on my hard drive and also on a dvd . I just cant figure out where it went on my hard drive yet.
Wow I have been asking people for over a month how to do this and no one knows how to talk baby steps to me. Is it possible to made this into a cd. I am on dial up and it says 76 mbs for dvd and 1.31 seconds that will take forever to send in an email.

some emails wont except over 5meg files...
you can put the file on CDR but not as a dvd just copy .VOB <--- video part, to CDR as data) but will need to be played on pc, NOT! a dvd player.
for stand alone dvd players you must burn as is from dvd shrink.

This is so much fun. I just woke up lol
I just read your email and I wanted to know when do I start this part of the process to make the cdr that will play on PCs which is just great. I put a cdrw into the slot and got my shrink but couldnt figure out when to start and do I do it from the dvd I made or from the computer. I found out where the file is

Modestly I must demur.The suggestion was from Rotary, but all you have to do is put a blank CD in the burner, then copy VTS_01_1.VOB to the desktop and rename it to movie.mpg (this is just to assure people that it's just a plain old video file).
Now you can use Windows Explorer to either drag it onto the disk - or copy and paste as you see fit, then tell it to burn the file.
Remember that this is only a data CD and can only be played on a PC.

I am back
I made a couple of clips and I sent them by email so I am really happy . Its too late now I hope they can open them.
Is there anyway once I made a clip to edit it like make it smaller and
Is there any way to put it together with other clips that I have.

A few friends emailed me back those that are awake it is 12;30 in the night here
it came to them as a vob file and no one knows how to open it and I have no idea if I did it right or wrong. it says VTS 01 1.mpg.VOB
I just put mpg like you said I dont know where the vob came from.
How do I tell them to open it

I added .mpg to the file
I didnt put the .vob file
When I click on it on my computer I can play it
and it is wonderful but the people I emailed it to
say they cant open it.
when I run the mouse over the file it says in a yellow box
VLC (.VOB file)

File named 'VTS_03_5.VOB' then renamed 'VTS_03_5.VOB.mpg'
Identified as vob then as mpg.

I did it 3 times I added vob.mpg and the yellow box still
says type VLC media file (.vob)
MAybe I did something wrong I was able to cut the file down
just like you said it went to the hard drive and I didnt put it
on the dvd then I changed it to .mpg and then sent it to the cdrw. Should I have changed it to .vob.mpg. first or what else should I do or tell you I did.

I don't think you did anything wrong.
It plays on your PC it should play on another.
Are you using Windows Media Player to play the clip or other software.
They should be able to right click on the file and choose 'Open With..' to locate/select their particular media player.

I tried windows and realplayer and it didnt work.
I will tell everyone as soon as I find them to install VLC
and I will let you know what happens.

Sorry I took so long but I just heard from 3 people one

I had told them to download the VLC and they can
see the video now .It came out perfect.
