Strange PS2 problem

PS2 slim my son uses. Was playing Cars game and switched to another game.
Music from the start screen from the Cars game still plays when console is turned on. Tried removing memory card and disk. Still plays the Cars music with both cars & disk removed.
You can still play other games, but the Cars music plays over the other game while it's running. Any ideas on what would cause this? Could it have written the music over whatever OS it uses?Very weird.

Never mind. I feel a little like a noob. It was the DVD in the DVD player & he had the cables confused, so you could play the game, but got the audio from the DVD.

Hard to believe I troubleshoot for a living. Thanks anyway.
