Nero burns DVDs fine, but not Audio CDs

I have a Pioneer DVR-212D burner. I can burn DVDs at top speed and have no data loss or errors (I always burn lower than top speed, which is 16x). Any burning program will work to burn DVDs, including Nero.
Audio CDs are a different story. They will usually burn halfway, but then they will stop almost randomly. If I go listen to the CD, the tracks sound great until the one that was partially burned when the error popped up.
No matter what kind of audio CD--a bin/cue, or just mp3s--they will not finish. I have tried many burning applications in addition to narrow such as MediaMonkey and CDBurnerXP.
CDs are Maxell CD-Rs, by the way. I appreciate any help that you can offer! Thank you!
I doubt this is a Nero problem, but I have been able to save Nero's error log. Here's a copy of it:
