I have 2 dvd players one is a Panasonic DV37 and the other one is a Sony (they are both a few years old). Decrypted movies will not play on the Panasonic at all, but the Sony has no problem whatsoever.

The message you got, I used to get before from backed up copies, now, it just keep searching and not being able to initiate the disc.

Have you tried your movie on a different player? If so, do you get the same results?

PEACE

First of all...some standalone DVD players can be rather picky. Usually the more expensive players are a wee bit more finicky.

Then there's the media, the burn speed, and the format of the media to contend with.

Also, what program are you using after Shrink to burn?

What's good media in your book? What brand are you using?

The best blank media to use are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Sony.

Burning at 8x for an 8x disc could probably produce a low quality burn. As a rule of thumb burn at half the rated speed of the disc.

-R's are a widely acceptable format as far as compatibility. If using the +R format, booktype to DVD-ROM for the best compatibility.

To add to the words of wisdom from 7th,

When you are using dvd shrink th 'shrink' your film, when it asks you what folder you want to 'back up' your movies in, there is a tab for 'dvd region', which specifies the region the disk is, and what regions you want to make the dvd play in.

Since dvd shrink does not have a burner, what program are you using to burn your dvd's?

I used either NERO or Copytodvd. Here is another method more cleaner and less headache.
1. Use AnyDVD to ripper the file -- AnyDVD will take out the region isse.
2. Use Convertionxtodvd on the video section -- select either PAL or NTSC. This software will burn the DVD for you.

Good luck.

I have a Windows Vista home ed OS and I have DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 (I wanted the older version because the newer ones aren't free) I have a trial version of Nero 9.0.9.4 I tried to make a copy on a DVD R- which I have one DVD player that plays both R+and R- the rest of my DVD players play minus with the exception of the playstation which I think plays R+ at any rate the Movie can not be played on ANY other player from my damn near antique to my new top shelf one, the only thing is will play on is the laptop that I burned it from. SO I have heard rumors of Vista putting tags on it making it so you can only play it on the computer but I am unsure what the problem is. Now here's a real tricky question, I no longer have the original disc that I was trying to copy, I only have the copies that play only on my laptop, any chance I can "remove" the tag to get it recorded to play on regular DVD players? LOL Thanks in advance on any help you can offer!!

The "newer" version of dvd shrink is a scam. Dvd shrink has not been updated in the past 4 years.

Imgburn is probably the best burn program out there IMHO. Besides, it's also free.

Where is the original at, as you no longer have it. If you 'rented' the movie or borrowed it, then the programs I mentioned will not work, as they only work on movies you own and not on pirated material.

I used my old computer with the disc that will only play on my laptop copied it using DVD Shrink and burned it with Nero Express 6.3.126 and the copy plays fine on the regular DVD player so now I'm pissed I have this new laptop with a DVDRW that I can't use I tried downloading the older version of Nero express but it is not compatible with Windows Vista, I also tried using DVDFab and it had an error. There seems to be no way to record and burn from the same driver so I saved it to the hard drive and then tried to burn it to the disc from there and that's when I got the error I'm ready to throw my laptop out the window grr
