Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker and first time poster now! I use uTorrent 1.6 and have read Rav009's post on P2P stuff....

My question is just what does Peer Guardian 2 do for me? I am a bit confused on p2p stuff and hear folks chat about it but I am unsure what it could do for me.

I run windows xp firewall and I have a router that I have port forwarded for Utorrent.

Does zone alarm do the same thing or is Peer Guardian something entirely different?

Thanks for the help!

Regards

PG2 is totally different. What it does is block various known ip addresses of companies that report on your downloading to organizations like the RIAA and MPAA. Not 100% but necessary for anybody downloading copyrighted material.

Hi Bitdog,

I noticed you mentioned in your post that you've forwarded your port, I am more than confused r.e. that process. I can't seem to find a guide for softhead like me! Can I ask you how you were guided through the process?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Try here: http://www.portforward.com/english/route...routerindex.htm Find your router, click on it, find your program, click on it and follow the directions. Not necessary with just a modem unless it contains a firewall in which case it may be listed there too. Allow your client through any firewall you use too.

CF01, You don't have to allow those sites, all you have to do is unblock HTTP (websites) and just be VERY careful which sites you go on.

@CF01

I wouldn't even browse the net when you are using BitTorrent, as you slow your speeds down considerably.
