So every time I download something I always get the green light, but my download speed is always under 80 - 90 kb/sec. My max download speed is 155 kb/sec and yet I'm stuck under 100 kb/sec. I have a NETGEAR WGT624v3 Wireless Router (I disabled the wireless and I'm now WIRED). I open the ports on my router page and unblocked Bit Tornado from Windows XP Firewall.
Make sure your upload speed is set correctly to 80%, and, assuming these are public sites, no matter how many seeds you connect to, you have no way of knowing what they've set their upload to. Most likely low. Choose files that have plenty of peers too. Use a port over 10,000 that isn't the default.
How do I set my upload speed? I usually put it at "Automatic" or "DSL Fast". I have my start port at 6881 and end port at 6889. I have heard of putting it over 10,000 because I followed the guide on PorForward, but it doesn't work.
For upload, take this speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/ It's very accurate and will give the result in kbps (most do). To convert to kB, divide that by 8 and .8 of that is the figure you enter (8kb =1 kB). My bad, BitTornado uses a port range, try any over 50,000. It's recommended not to use those under 10,000 or default as ISP's may block them. Edit: later, take the speedtest a few times on various days during and after school Monday-Thursday to get a good average.
Your start port can be anything, say 52,203 or whatever to how many instances of Bittornado you want open at one time. 10 ports - 10 Bittornado's, one port each but remember that all downloads open at the same time will share your bandwidth, one download will be faster than two and so on.
