I am looking to put together my first box, but I need some advice. So far I do have a few things figured out for sure.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield
XFX 9600GT GPU

Now when it comes to RAM, I am undecided to go with G.Skill or Corsair
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
or
CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
The S.Skill is slightly cheaper by like $2/$4.

I havent decided on a case yet, but I really like the:

In the mobo department I want something Vista compatible. Chances are I am sticking with XP for now...but I want the ability to jump to Vista when I decide to do so. I have given some thought to the

but need suggestions.

Once these things are addressed then I will move on to hard drive advice,

Go with the Corsair RAM, the Gigabyte Motherboard and get this power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001

Also, you would be wise to edit the topic title so it actually describes what you want help with, such as 'New PC components - help please' - meaningless thread titles usually see the thread get closed/deleted.

You already have a hard drive/CD drive you want to use?

Thanks sam, the only two things left(i think) are a case and hard drive.

I decided to go with
-Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10000 RPM SATA 1.5Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
as the hard drive, and case I am probably

As for a case, I am really torn, I found several i really like:
XCLIO Windtunnel Fully Black Finish 1.0 mm SECC Chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

Apevia Black X-Cruiser Case ATX Mid-Tower Case with Clear Side, Front USB, Audio and Firewire Ports
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...4&Sku=A107-1050

They all look great and have great reviews, the only pro i see for the windtunell is it seems like it would have the best ventilation.

Well tbh this is my first build, so I am not sure just how much ventilation is needed, and what kind of things to look for in terms of ventilation. So while those cases i listed may not be the best, should it be sufficient and roughly what would i need to do to get those cases to be sufficient in terms of cooling?

You really want a case that supports large fans, but not absurdly large, the sweet spot is 120mm or 140mm.
Oh, and by the way, 150GB Raptors have reliability issues compared to other drives - I'd recommend you change to either the 300GB Velociraptor or the smaller 74GB version.

What if i dropped a 120 fan in the rear for ventilation on the Xclio? Would that be sufficient? I read alot of reviews on it on newegg and no one complained of cooling issues. Actually every one said it did a great job of cooling.

It does an acceptable job of cooling, but no moreso than your average PC case. Trust me, it's cooling performance is far from exemplary.

It's alright, but only supporting two 120mm fans it's not the best option in the world for cooling either, though sufficient. None of the cases I listed your thing?
What about this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021
these are pretty good for cooling.

I have very unique tastes :p

I do like that case, but i see the USB ports and such on top as a hassle in my case. I use my headphones alot and i like to have one of my USB drives run to my front USB port for quick access to transfer data between PCs. So I need something with access to my USB ports on the front or the side.

Well if you're set on that Xclio case, it will do, and will cool your PC sufficiently, but it isn't anything remarkable - I was merely recommending other products if you were only buying that case based on its cooling, because it's not exemplary, but it's perfectly fine though, there's nothing badly wrong with it.
