How to change region free and convert PAL to NTSC

Hi all:
I tried to take the region 2 or 3 from a movie -- PAL change to NTSC
I used dvdfab platium to rip the movie, and I used DVD shrind to change to region free -- vol blanker to chang the PAL to NTSC via versa.
Somehow it did not work when I take this dvd to play on the Sony DVP NS501P. It gave me an error msg ' Can not play back due to area limitation' I knew it region free issue. Any suggestions.

Since burned DVD's don't have region coding, perhaps some of the content is still PAL.

I've used the VOBBlanker method a couple of times to convert PAL to NTSC.
Found that if the 'VIDEO_TS_VOB' is not deleted, the burned DVD will not work in my Panasonic standalone player.

If the 'VIDEO_TS_VOB' file is deleted in VOBBlanker, the resulting NTSC DVD has a functioning menu - which I did not expect.

An alternative is to reauthor the files in DVD Shrink to save the main title only - that is, with no menu, then process with VOBBlanker.
