Is this a psu problem?!?!?!

ok so i recently bought a new heatsink because my other one broke

i installed the new one and i turned the computer on and it worked....however it did say windows has encountered a serious problem

so then i restarted the computer and the screens were black....The monitors were on but the screens were black

after an hour of shutting off the computer and turning it back on, sometimes when i turned the computer on, the computer just died and turned off......then i try to turn is back on but i have to take the AC cord out of the back out and turn the computer back on and it sometimes works but sometimes not..

is this a power supply problem?

please someone help!!!

If the PC shuts down and has to be reset by the power cord (or switch on the PSU if you have one) then it means a critical shutdown has occurred. Either the PSU has tripped out (meaning it should be replaced) or an overheat has been triggered. Given that you've just replaced your heatsink I'm thinking it's the latter - did you clean off the old thermal paste properly and add new stuff?

thanks i found out what it was my heatsink was on backwards and my processor was overheating LOL

Haha yup - can't say I've ever put on one backwards, but I've left the plastic tape covering the block before... LOL! Wow, that was a few years back.
